MOSCOW is one of the oldest and most mesmerising metropolises in the world. Moscow can boast a long and enthralling history. The city has been completely destructed and rebuilt again a lot of times throughout the years. Each time Moscow was resurrected from the ruins, it became further and further captivating. For every rebuilding, the most gifted and renowned architects were invited from all over the world to restore Moscow. Hence, Moscow places of interest are truly well worth seeing. Now Moscow is the city where the past and the present, the great and the small exist side by side in mutual tolerance and respect. Close to ancient churches and cathedrals, there tower above modern business centres and skyscrapers. But, first and foremost, Moscow is the very centre of Russia's history. Red Square is the most famous city square in Moscow and, probably, one of the best-known in the world. It separates the Kremlin, which used to be the royal fortress and is currently the official residence of Russia's President, from a historic merchant part known as Kitai-gorod. Since major Moscow streets radiate from here in every direction, Red Square is frequently considered the central square of Moscow and of the country. Resurrection Gate is the only existing gate of the Kitai-gorod in Moscow. It connects the north-western end of Red Square with Manege Square and gives its name to Voskresenskaya Square (called Resurrection Square) placed nearby. Moscow parks are also popular among citizens and travellers. Alexander Garden is one of Moscow's first public parks. It spans along the western Kremlin wall in front of the Moscow Manege. The State Historical Museum of Russia is a museum of Russia's history situated between Red Square and Manege Square. Its displays vary from remnants of the prehistoric peoples that live on the territory of present-day Russia to extremely valuable artworks obtained by the Romanov dynasty. The total number of objects in the collection displayed in the museum averages out at millions. They say Moscow will definitely exhaust you before you exhaust its possibilities.
